ABOUT

ABOUT

Hi! My Name is Brynn.

I'm a licensed mental health counselor with a background in creative writing and competitive sports. My counseling style tends to be person-centered, direct, and creative. As a therapist, I try to meet clients where they are, while developing and pursuing goals collaboratively. Therapy, in my mind, is less about "fixing" what is wrong and more about creating a better quality of life despite what is not quite right.

My Story

Prior to my career as a mental health provider, I was a serious athlete and aspiring writer.  In college, I majored in creative writing and competed as a Division II soccer player and runner.  After undergrad, I went on to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. It was during my time in the MFA program that I first became interested in psychotherapy and how creativity can be used for not only self-expression, but for healing.

Clinical Experience

I've worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, academic institutions, substance abuse treatment centers, and residential treatment facilities.  I have experience providing individual therapy, group counseling, academic coaching, and family therapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults. I'm well-versed in evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
